Catch the Farm Tour this weekend
Millstone Plantation, 6500 Old Millstone Plantation Road, is hosting the 10th Annual Farm Tour all day Saturday and Sunday. Attendees can visit farms and farmers in North Florida and South Georgia to get fresh produce and farming tips.
Area residents taking part in the 10th Annual Farm Tour will have the opportunity to visit the area’s first planned agricultural as one of the 25 select stops and the only agrihood on the tour, Pine Dove Farm plans to showcase its farm-to-table lifestyle and vision of cultivating relationships between nature and neighbors.
Encompassing more than 200 acres, Pine Dove Farm’s mission is to practice sustainable living through responsible development methods such as eco-friendly homes, preservation of open lands and Community Supported Agriculture.
The recent completion of both its community garden and barn furthers Pine Dove Farm’s mission of bringing green living and farm-to-table practices to residents. The farm features and is prepared for various vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and greens, a chicken coop with fresh eggs, goat pens, various fruit trees, grape trellises and 150 blueberry bushes.
Along with the raised beds and various planted crops is a traditional barn equipped with various farming instruments. It will be home to workshops throughout the year for those interested in gardening, canning and other eco-friendly activities.
Pine Dove Farm will be open to the public during the Farm Tour from 1-5 p.m. Visitors can expect to learn more about Pine Dove Farm’s mission and plans, explore the farm, enjoy refreshments and receive seed packets to start their own garden.
