From sunrise to sunset, PineDove Farm pulses with activity as nature and nurture come together to promote sustainable farming practices. While no two days are exactly alike on our farm, there’s a comforting rhythm to our daily routine that keeps everything running smoothly.
Morning Chores
Our day begins with chickens! They’re early risers, and so are we. Each morning, we make our rounds to ensure our hens have fresh food and clean water. One of the most satisfying morning tasks is collecting the newly laid eggs, still warm from the nest. We take care to keep their lying areas clean and comfortable, replacing bedding as needed.
During winter months, the greenhouse becomes our sanctuary of green. Here, we nurture seedlings that will eventually make their way to our fields when spring arrives. Daily watering and pruning ensure these future crops get the best possible start.
Field Work
As the day progresses, we head to the fields where most of our crops grow. Watering is a methodical process – since we work with limited water pressure, we water in sections, moving from one area to the next. This might seem tedious, but there’s a meditative quality about moving through the rows, checking plants, and providing them with what they need to thrive.
Planning and Teamwork
Once a week, we join together for a planning session where we create our to-do lists. These tasks get tackled between our daily chores. It’s this balance of routine maintenance and project work that keeps the farm developing while maintaining what we’ve already built.
Get Involved!
Curious about how you can help? It’s easier than you might think to get involved at PineDove Farm! We welcome all our agrihood neighbors to experience the joy of connecting with the land and food production. Whether it’s helping collect eggs, transplanting seedlings, or learning about sustainable growing practices, there’s something for everyone, regardless of experience.
Volunteers are welcome to join us for sessions, and we’ll match activities to your interests and abilities. The reward? Fresh air, new skills, and often, a basket of farm-fresh produce to take home.
Come grow with us at PineDove Farm – where community and agriculture flourish together.
